Due to a power failure and a ups failure at our data centre, our primary webserver died on april 1st (not a joke!). A brand new server is in place now and we are looking into solutions such as extending our server amount and spreading over multiple datacenters to prevent the damage such an event would have in the future. Our apologies for any inconvenience. If you experience any difficulties with the service, please let us know by sending a mail.

We’ve recently implemented a refer-a-friend scheme!
By recommending people to signup as a leadbullet affiliate you can will earn 5% of their earnings on top of your own for 6 months after their signup.
All you have to do is have them to go to the affilate signup page with your contributor id added to the query string, i.e.: http://affiliate.leadbullet.net/?cid=<your contributor id>
The great thing is that these links will also be included in our html and flash ads soon (the new ads are still in beta, more news about this in a few days), so anyone signing up as an affiliate via an ad on your site will automaticaly earn you more revenue.
If you have any questions about the scheme please drop us an email at marcel@leadbullet.nl

It’s been a long time since the last post but we’ve been working very hard on the sharemonkey service and there have been lots of small and major improvements which we just can not keep silent:
1. The sharemonkey match website has had an enourmous (ajax) makeover.
2. The matching engine was greatly improved and implemented from scratch.
3. The XML service has reached final status, documentation can be found here.
4. We have been working on flash banners for use on your website(s).
If you have any comments or ideas please let me know.

I am pleased to announce that the latest release of Torrent Searcher now comes with ShareMonkey product matching support.
Torrent Searcher used ShareMonkey Matching Links to display a “Support this artist - buy it!” link in relevant right click context menus. They also used the ShareMonkey Matching Image Service to display box shots of products when in the Library section of the software.
If you run a peer to peer application or website, please check out our p2p affiliate program.

The Daily Telegraph (a British newspaper) has hit the nail right on the head with their recent article regarding Radiohead’s decision to allow fans to choose the price of their latest album, In Rainbows.
“Supporting a rock band used to be an act of rebellion. In the face of today’s mounting music piracy, it has become an act of conscience.”
Article: Radiohead generation believes music is free.

The Future of Web Apps conference was really informative and fun. Many of the speakers were young entrepeneurs sharing their knowledge and experience of creating a start up and / or new business (I learned that these are actually different concepts). On the whole the speakers kept you interested in their choice of discussion.
Matt Mullenweg (Wordpress) was fantastic, his laid back approach on stage was a pleasant surprise. Leah Culver (Pownce) gave practical tips on the creation of a small socially oriented service. There was also a mention of WURFL by Heidi Pollock, which sent my pulse rate shooting up due to the fact that I have contributed to their open source project (My name is still in their contributor section of the wurfl.xml).
The live Diggnation filming was awesome. I paid for membership so I could show my family the final cut before heading back home to the West Midlands. I’m the guy jumping up and down like an idiot at the left hand side of the initial camera swoop of the audience. I’ve seen myself in several videos and pictures uploaded by fans at the event. The online community response from this event has been absolutely mind blowing.
I got to speak to Alex for a short while during the after party, which was really awesome. I asked him how he got to know Jeff and Dan;
“Dan was a fan of Diggnation so he got in contact and I met Jeff when we went to a D&D game.”
This comment encompasses so much of how I feel about this golden age of technology. I feel more a part of this progression than ever. We’re the guys that make these services happen. We’re the guys that launch new startups and change the way people live their lives for the better. Geeks are kicking ass right now.
In other words, and to borrow a phrase from Alex Albrecht, good times people, good times!

ShareMonkey has just released version 0.1 BETA of our file to product matching XML service. P2P websites and applications can now pass data about a file to this service and we’ll return a list of products this file comes from, including product images of varying size, title, description, price and an affiliate link. This means your users can see which product(s) a file comes from without having to visit ShareMonkey first.
The service will determine which country your user is from based on their IP address (we use GeoIP), so the returned products will be served in the currency of the user. Affiliate links point to stores that users can actually purchase goods from (we support around 50 countries, including the whole of Europe and the U.S., with more being added frequently).
We accept a whole host of file information including all the popular p2p hashes, meta data, filename, ShareMonkey category ids and more. Here’s an example to feast your eyes on:
I was going to pirate Bioshock, but at that price I might as well just buy it
We’re really excited about this release. If you’d like help with integration please do not hesitate to contact us at marcel@leadbullet.nl and we’ll work with you throughout the process. If you’re a peer to peer application developer or website maintainer, please feel free to drop us an email at the above address or join our p2p affiliate program.
You can read the technical details of this service in our ShareMonkey Matching XML Service document.
